Esther
The Book of Esther is a story about courage, purpose, faith, and being willing to act when the moment matters most.
Esther was a young Jewish woman living in Persia who unexpectedly became queen. She initially kept her Jewish identity private. When Haman, a powerful official, developed a plan that threatened the Jewish people, Esther faced an enormous decision: remain silent and protect herself, or approach King Ahasuerus and risk her life by speaking on behalf of her people.
Her cousin Mordecai challenged her with the defining thought of the book:
“Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” —
Esther 4:14
Esther chose courage. She called for a fast, approached the king despite the danger, exposed Haman's plot, and ultimately helped save her people.
